August 3, 2016 - New York, New York – American Skin Association (ASA) today announced the newest member of its Education Council, Dr. Jerry Shapiro, Professor of Dermatology at the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology at New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Shapiro is an internationally recognized expert on diseases of the hair and scalp who has devoted decades to education, from the one-on-one teaching of fellows to delivering lectures around the globe about state-of-the-art techniques. He is well regarded for his ability to synthesize and simplify complex issues. His vast experience, having served as the President of the prestigious World Congress of Dermatology in June 2015, will be of great value to the ASA Educational Council.

"I am so pleased to add Dr. Shapiro to ASA's Education Council," said Howard P. Milstein, Chairman of ASA’s Board of Directors. "Dr. Shapiro runs one of the leading clinics in the world and is respected internationally for his expertise. The ASA Education Council will benefit mightily from Dr. Shapiro's extensive background and his vital support for our programs. I anticipate his contributions to our council will lead to tremendous strides forward in our mission to champion skin health education for children, teens and young adults."
